Even if you don't know the name of Charles Perrault, you certainly know his work. He is the original author of such enduring stories as Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, and Cinderella. La Barbe Bleue, a story of a very rich man hiding a dark secret, has to be counted as one of his greatest fairy tales. The main moral of the story, explained in a poem at the end, is that it's dangerous to take too much of an interest in things that don't concern you. |
