Avant même d'avoir cinq ans, Matilda sait lire et écrire, connaît tout Dickens, tout Hemingway, a dévoré Kipling et Steinbeck. Pourtant son existence est loin d'être facile entre une mère indifférente, passionnée de loto, abrutie par la télévision et un père d'une franche malhonnêteté. Sans oublier Mademoiselle Legourdin, la directrice de l'école, personnage redoutable qui voue à tous les enfants une haine implacable. Sous la plume tendre et acerbe de Roald Dahl, les événements vont se précipiter, étranges, terribles, hilarants...

Matilda- Roald Dahl

Love this book - Matilda by Roald Dahl! I have an intermediate level in French and with my level of knowledge of French, I feel this book has been well translated. If you compare it to the original text, you'll notice that many sections, in my opinion not necessary to keep the story moving along and interesting, have been left out of the translation. When I noticed this, I was quite impressed with the thoughtfulness put into creating the translation and how the translators carefully chose the passages that were removed. (This is similarly true for the BGG). I'm looking forward to purchasing more books from French Books Online. Books were packaged and shipped quickly. They arrived in mint condition!
